A private evaluation provides an opportunity to do everything you can to help your child grow, learn, and develop to their highest capacity. Our psycho-educational evaluations help fully investigate and learn unique strengths and challenges, giving you clarity and understanding as to why certain behaviors occur. Combined psychological and educational assessment gives a more complete picture of the individual. What is the overall goal of an evaluation?
The overall goal of all evaluations is to meaningfully select assessments and review testing outcome to develop creative recommendations that will assist individuals in reaching their full potential. This includes supportive consultation with families, school personnel and other professionals, if requested, so that there is a detailed understanding of how to use the results to inform interventions and supports.
How can psycho-educational assessment help my child?

An extensive array of performance, rating scale, and interview measures are available to narrowly target strengths and challenges, and break down skill sets within areas like executive functioning, attention, and specific learning needs. The thorough evaluation of these skill sets is what is often needed to get at the core of challenges.

The assessment can answer questions regarding if a learning, intellectual, social, behavioral, or emotional disability exists, provides a formal diagnosis when appropriate, and aligns with classifications for services used in schools. This helps better inform interventions that would benefit an individual in school and at home.

The assessment helps to provide more information for concerns around special education and 504 plan eligibility and services, planning for transition from grade levels, high school to college, training programs, or employment, and establishes the need for formal accommodations granted on SAT’s, ACT’s, etc. The assessment can also provide the documentation colleges require to provide certain accommodations for students with disabilities including extra time, note taking support, and alternative test taking locations.

The assessment also helps to identify your child's learning skills and styles that work best so that their strengths can be engaged most effectively. I give recommendations for interventions within various environments for families and school staff, while providing strategies for the child. Each are essential to long-term change and growth.

What are my assessment plan options?
Three types of evaluation options are offered to help identify the target outcome of the assessments:
Basic: General evaluation mostly consisting of cognitive capability and achievement testing, interview data, review of applicable data, and consultation.
Standard: All components listed above and more specific evaluation to determine if a disability exists such as ADHD, learning/dyslexia. Others areas of functioning will be screened but targeted areas are tested completely.
Comprehensive: Assessing all areas of functioning, adding performance tests for memory, attention, executive functioning, learning, visual motor, interviews and review of available data.
